Award Winners
Alex Awards
Presented annually in the U.S. by the Young Adult Library Services Association to authors of 10 adult books that have special appeal to teens.
Michael L. Printz Award
Awarded annually by the Young Adult Library Services Association for excellence in young adult literature. Named after a librarian from Topeka, Kansas.
Trail Challenge
The Trail Challenge is an Olathe specific award hosted by the middle schools. They do a March Madness style bracket in March to select the winner after reading and promoting the books in the middle schools all year. It is called Trail Challenge because all of the middle schools are named after a Trail. We also use the Trail Challenge list of authors to pick from for our yearly author visit in the fall and they are frequently requested books for middle school students.
William Allen White Award
A pair of awards presented annually for the best books of the year, as voted by students in the state of Kansas into categories, grades 3-5 and 6-8.
