Meet the Teen Staff

Angela Parks - Teen Librarian
Angela Parks

Hello! I am the Teen Librarian for the Olathe Public Library! My desk is located at the Indian Creek location, but I can be found Downtown too. My first job was working in a library, and I have worked in a library ever since. I’m a cat person and frog fanatic. Some of my favorite hobbies include gardening, cooking, crafting and traveling. My final hobby, of course, is reading, but I only read a book once. I like realistic fiction and psychological thrillers. John Green is my current favorite teen literature author. My goals in life are to travel to Europe and have a pet frog!

 Brighton Texley- Teen Assistant

Brighton TexleyAd astra abyssosque! I am the teen programming gremlin specialist at Indian Creek. You can find me leading the teen clubs or trying (and failing) to defend my title in Mario Kart at the Zone. Currently, I am in the anime arc of my life where I am catching up on all the great shows I’ve missed. Ask me about my love of Genshin Impact (yes, I am the #1 Xiao main in America, how did you know?), Star Wars, or Legend of Zelda. I am a dog mom of Lloyd the Australian shepherd and have two guinea pigs, Zelda and Kiwi. As for books, Rick Riordan and Christopher Paolini had a huge impact on me growing up and remain two of my favorites. Currently, my favorite book is Strike the Zither by Joan He. My hobbies include: sewing, cosplaying (I’ve won 3 awards!), streaming, writing, working on my Etsy shop and making cool crafts.

 Sarah Hopkins-Teen Assistant

Hello all! I am the Downtown Teen Programming Specialist, though you will find me at both Olathe Public Library locations throughout the week as well as in the greater Olathe community. My educational background is in Criminal Justice and I am always listening my way through a true crime podcast. My ultimate goal in life is to have a positive impact (big or small!) on everyone who interacts with me. I have several hobbies I rotate between depending on interests at any given time. Typically these include reading, baking, diamond painting, and paper crafting. I grant Lisa Gardner the title of my favorite author because one of her books prompted me to start reading again for fun as an adult, and I haven’t stopped reading again since. As for YA authors, my favorite is Ellen Hopkins (no relation).
