An embroidery machine is a computer controlled machine that stitches a digitally created design onto fabric.

The Lab at Indian Creek has a Baby Lock Array, a six needle embroidery machine.

The Baby Lock has the following features:

  • 7-7/8" x 11-3/4" embroidery field
  • Embroidery crosshair positioning laser
  • 126 built-in designs
  • 50 font styles
  • Intuitive color management
  • Embroiders up to 1,000 stitches per minute

What type of file can I use?

The embroidery machine reads .PES files, a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) file that contains embroidery instructions for the pattern. It stores codes such as "stop," "jump," and "trim" that make up instructions that direct the sewing machine.

How can I create my own files?

Palette 11 is available in the Makerspace to prepare image files for embroidery. A reservation to use the software is separate from the reservation for the machine.

Cost

The only cost associated with the embroidery machine is for the embroidery thread, with the price determined by the final stitch count. You will be able to see how many stitches are in a design when it is uploaded to the machine. The Lab has 360 colors to choose from. You may bring your own embroidery thread to be approved for use.

You may bring your own stabilizer or purchase it from the Lab. See the Lab Price Guide for current prices.

Making a reservation is recommended to ensure your time on the machine.
