Kick-Off Events

Summer Reading Kick-Off in Frontier Park (Black Bob Rd. & Indian Creek Pkwy.) 
Tuesday, May 30 from 10 am to 11:30 am 
Summer Reading kicks-off with fun in the park! We'll have games and activities for kids and all ages can pick up their summer reading details. In case of rain, Kick-Off will be canceled.

Cookout at Olathe Downtown Library
Tuesday, May 30 from 11:30 am to 1 pm
After the park, visit Olathe Downtown for a cookout! The Lenexa Sertoma Club will be serving hot dogs ($2), chips (.50), cookies ($1) and drinks (.50). Cookout will continue rain or shine. Proceeds will go towards a hearing loop at the future Indian Creek that will allow deaf and hard of hearing customers to communicate easier.

Summer Reading Program
May 22 through August 18 ‚Äč

For children entering 5th grade or younger
Keep track of the books you read (or books read to you) this summer and earn a FREE BOOK at the end of the summer! Join us for FREE live shows, movies, crafts, and more. Find out more the children's summer reading program.

For tween and teens entering 6th - 12th grades
Earn prizes (cool prizes like free food, books & more)  just for reading (or reading to a younger sibling) or listening to books and enter for a chance at a GRAND PRIZE (a Polaroid Snap 10.0 Megapixel Digital Camera and $100 gift cards to Barnes & Noble, Best Buy and Amazon). Join us for classes, clubs, crafts, contests and more. For adults of all ages
Don't let the kids have all the fun! Submit entry slips for each book you read (or listen to) to be entered into drawings for gift cards to local businesses and restaurants. Pick up entry forms at either Olathe Library or participate online.
