Are you ready for a summer of fun and good books?  This summer's reading program theme is Fizz Boom Read!  Celebrate science and reading all summer long at the Olathe Public Library.  The planned activities include a variety of special programs, storytimes, book discussion groups, free family movies, chess nights, Read to a Dog, LEGO family lock-in, hamster ball races, preschool crafts, a bookmark contest, Find Fido Fridays, and more.  We will once again be starting off the summer with our Summer Reading Kick-Off for the whole family.  This summer we will also be offering two big programs off-site at a new location:  Indian Creek Community Church located at 12480 S Black Bob Rd.  This is just up the street from the Indian Creek Branch Library.  It's sure to be an exciting and fun summer at the library!

All young readers (going into 5th grade and younger) are invited to pick up a summer reading folder at the library beginning Wednesday, May 21.  We will continue to distribute folders throughout the summer.  Folders will also be available at our Summer Reading Kick-Off on May 27 at Frontier Park.  Use the folder to keep track of all your summer reading.  Just for fun you may also collect colorful stickers for your folder each week throughout the summer.  Bring your folder back to the library between July 28 - August 13 to receive a free paperback book!

There will be a variety of activities going on at the library this summer for children of all ages.  Click the month links listed on the left to find out what is going on day by day throughout the summer.  If you have any questions, call us at (913) 971-6874.
